Parking Safely Around Our School - A Request from Our JRSOs
At Calderwood Primary & Nursery, the safety of our children is always our top priority. Recently, concerns have been raised about cars parking on or near the yellow zig-zag lines outside the school gates, particularly at drop-off and pick-up times.
Although new road markings have been put in place to improve safety, the yellow zig-zag lines are still being used as parking spots by some drivers. These markings are there for a very important reason – they help keep entrances clear, improve visibility, and reduce the risk of accidents for our children and families as they arrive at and leave school.
A Message from Our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs)
Our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) have been thinking carefully about how we can work together as a community to make our school environment safer for everyone. They have created posters and letters to kindly remind adults about the importance of parking responsibly and putting children’s safety first.
The JRSOs are asking for the help and cooperation of all adults in the community around our school. They understand that school pick-up and drop-off times can be busy, but small changes in behaviour can make a big difference to everyone’s safety.
How You Can Help
Please do not park on yellow zig-zag lines at any time
Be mindful of visibility for children crossing the road
Consider parking a little further away and walking the last short distance
Help us model safe and responsible choices for our children
By working together, we can ensure that all children feel safe travelling to and from school and that our school surroundings remain welcoming and safe for everyone.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for continuing to support our school community. Your cooperation and understanding are truly appreciated.
Together, we can make a positive difference.
