Teenage Cancer Trust:
Three eight-year-olds from Calderwood have cycled 50 miles and held a large bake sale to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. They have raised over £3000 to help
support the charity and its vital services for young people with cancer.
The trio committed to the challenge to show solidarity for one of the girl’s sister Sophie, who is undergoing cancer treatment and to fundraise for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity providing specialised nursing care and expert youth support for young people with cancer.
The charity funds specialist nurses, youth workers and hospital wards within the NHS, so young people aged 13-24 with cancer get the sensitive, individual care and support they need at this unique and critical life stage.
Sophie’s Mum said:
“Conor, the Youth worker at the Teenage Cancer Trust unit in Edinburgh, was great at making sure Sophie always had something to do whilst going through treatment. The snug and designated rooms for teens on the unit really made a huge difference to our family whilst we were there”.
Charlotte, Relationship Manager for Scotland at Teenage Cancer Trust, said:
“We are incredibly proud and grateful that Bonnie, Ellen and Harper have fundraised for Teenage Cancer Trust. The money raised will help us be there for young people with cancer by ensuring they can receive specialist care and support from our nurses and youth workers. We can’t thank the girls enough for their incredible efforts.”
There’s still time to sponsor them by visiting Calderwood Cycle Challenge
