Maths week in Tay!

This week, Tay Clan have been taking part in Maths Week Scotland by developing our skills in measuring. We have been learning how to read scales by identifying intervals and using them to read measurements accurately.

We were also delighted to welcome some of our adults from home into the classroom for our Sharing the Learning. Together, we completed an estimating and measuring activity that we had learned previously. We estimated the lengths of different classroom objects before measuring them with rulers and comparing our predictions to the actual measurements. We also enjoyed completing a maths word search.
It was lovely to share our learning with our families and show them the skills we have been developing in class.

During stag start this week, we also linked play through numeracy with ur adding and subtracting twister game, creating uno number sentences, estimating counting collections and estimating in g and kg. We also took on the BIG maths mental challenge which most of us are enjoying weekly.

During the week we also linked our numeracy and literacy skills by answering comprehension questions on the maths story ‘Ready, Set 100th Day’.
