JrNBA Basketball Tournament - Event 1
On Friday 30th October, our basketball teams travelled to West Calder High School to take part in the first JrNBA tournament of the season. It was a fantastic afternoon of sport, teamwork and determination, with pupils proudly representing Calderwood and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the event.
The tournament brought together schools from across the area, with matches being played on three courts throughout the afternoon. Calderwood entered three teams, giving many pupils the opportunity to experience competitive basketball and develop their skills in a fast-paced tournament environment.
Our Calderwood A team had an outstanding afternoon, winning four of their five matches and securing an impressive third-place finish overall. Victories against East Calder, Calderwood B, Parkhead A and Livingston Village highlighted the team’s excellent passing, strong defence and teamwork.
Calderwood B and Calderwood C also showed great resilience, enthusiasm and determination, with both teams working hard in every game and celebrating some excellent individual and team performances. Calderwood B achieved two wins during the tournament, while Calderwood C secured a well-deserved victory against St Nicholas B.
Most importantly, all of our players represented Calderwood brilliantly, encouraging one another, showing respect to officials and opponents, and demonstrating the positive attitudes that make us proud. The experience gave pupils a valuable opportunity to develop their confidence, teamwork and basketball skills while enjoying competitive sport with friends.
A huge well done to every pupil who took part and thank you to the staff and organisers who made the event possible. We are already looking forward to the next JrNBA tournament and building on a fantastic start to the season.
